A Picture in Depth

  •    There is a symmetry, if the picture was cut in half, both side would have a tree in it, regardless of the detailed background

  •  The color makes the subjects more attractive.
  • The texture is soft, as well ask the sky and the mountains in the back
  • The ground seems to be a bit rough
  • The cross is tilted a bit to the right and makes the picture sort of look more into the background, specially back to the mountains, you can consider this a leading line
  • The viewpoint could be standing right in front of all the subjects
  • The frame is perfect, capturing both the trees on the side and the cross in the middle
  • All elements are balanced perfectly
I think the intent of this picture is to symbolize a certain event, it's as if something could have occurred there, maybe it's a landmark for territory. I feel like the cross takes you into the back of the mountains. This could be a large property of somebody and this is only one part of the whole place. The cross could mean many things, maybe a holy place, a tradition, to symbolize security.

Why I love this picture

I love this picture because it gives away so much emotions, for example it gives me the feeling of an adventure or a commitment just made into the future. Two people just got married and decided to take their picture here because they are intrepid and brave people. The height of the building just makes it even better. The color of the sky is even greater, it adds a sense of love and happiness.

Weegee by Weegee

I find Weegee very interesting. I feel like he's my new role model on the art side. I now enjoy reading about his work and life. I probably will go home tonight and research him. I find him interesting because he has an abstract mind. He isn't like any other usual photographer, he portrays the dark side of life; reality. Even though he explains how hard or difficult it could be for his mind, he still does it. Also I give props to him because he created his own job, he is his own boss and I look forward to hopefully doing something similar.

A Harry Callahan image

This picture makes me feel like an every day citizen walking the streets of New York or any other urban city. The lady is dressed quite fancy Both men and women could be very significant to society. I can imply these characteristics because of their style and their walk. Specially the man with the suitcase.

In this picture Callahan uses double exposure, the subject of two films put into one. I find this pretty interesting because it can agitate the situation, either in a good or bad way. It's intriguing.

A Creative Story

The kids yelling didn't mean anything

I know they don't know what they're saying

I know they like my mask, my dear mother made it from scratch

As I walk down the stairs I exhale with excitement hoping somebody will be as excited as me when

they see it

Mom was up late last night fixing every inch so I could wear it by today

This was my first picture, I can show it to papa when he comes back

hopefully anytime soon because it feels everlasting

Mom! Mom! everyone loved my mask

they wanted to be my friends

they want to hangout with me again

Mom! Mom! I made friends

Mom, thank you.

Keith Carter, a Famous Photographer

Keith Carter is a native Texan. He currently lives with his wife in Beaumont, Texas. He loves his home and enjoys focusing on small little details, revealing quirky and sublime facets of human nature. He never thought he would become a photographer, even though he grew up watching his mother crape by as she herself was a photographer. He found out he wanted to be a photographer until college when capturing an image with his mother, inspiring him to more forward, he even assisted his mother's business all around Texas and to this day he still does.He didn't have any professional training, he did most oh his work on his own, he was able to sneak some books of sculpture and photography, he learned on his own, just experimenting things from place to place. At the age of 25 was afforded the opportunity to access special archives in New York at the Museums of Modern Art for three weeks, there he learned tons of info and was able to make new experimentation's and observations. Ever since he has made Texas his home for Photography, he finds it an exotic land almost becoming an allegory. He focus are small negatives on a single-lens reflex Hasselblad camera. Limited depth of field and blurring are very so incorporated into Carter's work, this highly emphasizes area focusing making it sort of a mystery, Carter has published nine monographs including bones. He has a passion and has contributed any object as a portrait, he himself exclaims “These days I treat everything as a portrait, whether it’s a safety pin hanging from a string in a woman’s bedroom, or a man witching for water in a field. They’re the same.”

Here are some examples of his artwork

Shutter Speed

Shutter speed is basically the amount of time that a camera is open allowing light to come in.
A slow shutter speed can capture more of action in slow motion. A medium shutter speed can capture a lot of the action but also focus on certain areas of the picture, either a focus or blur background. A fast shutter speed usually captures all of the action making it a great focused picture covered in every inch.

Depth of Field Photograph

I love this picture because it shows the perfect scenery of depth in field photography. The blue color pencil stands out from the rest and is in focus while the others are blurred in the background. The bottom of the pencils are shreds of their own. It focuses on every edge and flaw of the pencil.

F stops Article

F Stops in Photograph

https://vimeo.com/blog/post/f-stops-and-aperturey

In this article it is explained highly in depth on how F-Stops work in Photography. Aperture is found to be the mechanism and f-stop the measurement of engagement of mechanism. In the aperture you have control of how much light you like to add. It controls the amount of light it's hitting the picture. The smaller the lens are the larger it is for the picture to be either zoomed out or in with a blur background and concise focus.
