What I learned today

Today I learned that different angles give people a different view. Whether it's their face or their whole body it helps in some way. One angle can help someone look very different from another. Depending on the person's preference, they might chose one angle over the other. I can say that is what they call their best angle. This is important for a photographer because when they have clients they want to be able to satisfy them or else you'll be considered a useless photographer. I enjoyed doing this today because you get to see people in many different views.

Mary Ellen Mark

She sits to relax her mind. Thoughts and thoughts running through her mind, with a health hazard in her mouth. She has been told but she doesn't care because it helps her in some way. So what if the world cares, I don't she says. A horse pet could be her only friend, the only one left. She sits carelessly, nothing else matters to her but herself. To escape feels good. Sick of reality, doesn't hurt to escape for once.

William Klein

His anger carries a dangerous weapon. His face expression call out fear and violence. His side partner doesn't know what he is doing. He wants to let go but his pride is stopping him. You ask yourself why he has a dangerous weapon at such a young age, why? I don't even know. But that kid can't control himself. He is in fear. He doesn't know what to do. His fear keeps him from letting go. He's afraid.

John G. Morris

These young ladies are traveling. They are going into town for a week to explore the city and see if they like it. They stand waiting for their time of arrival. These ladies love to travel but they have never done it before.so into the world of experiences they go. They are hoping for the best. This young child travels with his mother in the search of a new home.Their father has left and are on their way to search for him. He made promises and the mom hopes he doesn't dismiss any of them. The kid was disrupted from playing with his friends. Now, the road is his only friend.

Aldred Steiglitz

Between these kids there is a difference. One has a home and the other has probably plenty of space. The kid at the top picture is forced to dress nicely and he doesn't like it. The kid in the bottom picture wishes he had more than the same old two outfits. He picks from the trash every day which causes him to get dirty. Both these kids have dreams, one appreciates his resources and the other doesn't even have any.

Paul Strand

This is the story of 6 people. The story of a woman and 5 men. The story of a cyclist. These people don't have a life. To pass time, they hang out at a place where they can find themselves. A place where they'll feel like themselves. A place where they belong because at home they're being called useless bastards. Here they have found themselves. They are happy and thougthful inside.

Dorothea Lange

These are the lives of the many who work hard every day in order to make end meet at their table. With this hard work comes responsibilities who stay at home or who go to school to possibly seek a different future. Standing by the car is a hard working men who carries his daughter cautiously because he cares for her. On the other side is his old and fragile home that could soon not be called home. I can portray he didn't have a chance at making money that day, therefore he spends it with his daughter. It is rare so he takes advantage of it.
This powerful women is trying something new for herself. She is at the very top of her car. It seems like a sunny day, almost the perfect day to capture a photograph. She doesn't seem like a pro but she is trying something new, maybe something unusual that can help her grow as a person or even just learn something new.

Gordon Parks

Gordon Parks was known for his photographic essays in the Life Magazine and the director of Shaft, a famous movie. He was also a composer, a musician, a painter, and a writer.
To me this picture portrays views on life. The first picture can show a group of women who are devoted to their god. It's as if they were standing up for their own beliefs. Or possibly coming together to stand up to someone. Together they are a family and what unites them is their devotion.
The second picture portrays a beautiful woman doing her daily ritual of getting prepared for the day. Her appearance is important because she must present herself as she is; classy and educated. She holds a mirror with her left hand to make sure she doesn't mess up because the way she looks is a priority and highly significant for her. Unlike many women, she is different because she carries herself in a more caring way. She doesn't paint her face for society but for her love and passion of being a woman,

Photographs by Richard Avedon

These pictures portray the following: emotion, sickness and creativity. They all fall under a frame, most of their upper body is photographed. The characters show emotions, some are singing, some are posing effortlessly or maybe for a reason. Some could be sharing their sickness or their nature to creativity in art. The fact that they are black and white helps people see a story or even paint their own story.
